After Melbourne Cup Day, Computelec will commence the installation of Scholaris. The day they finish which may be the Friday or the Monday after the next weekend, they will train myself, Judy, Kate and Don from the administration side of things. On the 15th of November from 1:30pm until 3:30pm, they will train the team of end users. The list of end users may change over the next week. At the moment, Julia Williams and Susan Bentley have been added, but I would like to see a Head of Year there and a Head of Subject. We will continue to run Blackboard for 2008 so that staff can become accustomed to the new system before we release it to the students.

Setting up a Blog
October 19th, 2007 by stevehubbard in Internet · No Comments
The process of creating a blog is very simple. Just visit the site http://edublogs.org. It is an Australian owned company. Press the link ‘Sign Up’ and follow the prompts. You may prefer a WIKI. This is similar to a blog except other staff can contribute to the posting. This would be ideal if you wanted to alter a student’s writing. A blog is more a location for you to express your thoughts and have people (teacher, other staff or fellow students) comment on your writing.
Here is a sample of a WIKI – http://online-reporting.wetpaint.com

Hello Toorak College Staff

Welcome to the ‘Technology at Toorak College Blog’, hosted by Edublogs.org. This is my first post. I have setup this blog to put up my thoughts and that of the IT Team at Toorak College. I have also setup this blog in order to gain experience so I can help staff at Toorak who wish to use this technology with their students. Edublogs allows Teachers to setup a blog for free. They also have a separate section for students. If we wished to have our own domain, it would cost + they would charge $1200 for 100 blogs to be used at TC.
